عَنْ أَنسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قال: كَانَتْ نَاقَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم العَضْبَاءُ لاَ تُسبَقُ، أوْ لا تكَادُ تُسْبَقُ، فَجَاءَ أَعْرابيٌّ عَلى قَعُودٍ لهُ، فَسبقَهَا، فَشَقَّ ذلكَ عَلى المُسْلمِينَ حَتَّى عَرفَهُ، فَقَالَ: «حَقٌّ عَلى اللهِ أَلَّا يَرْتَفِعَ شَيءٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ وَضَعَهُ» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيّ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), al-'Adba', could not be outrun - or could scarcely be outrun. Then a bedouin came on a young camel of his and outran her, and that distressed the Muslims, until he recognized it and said, "It is a right upon Allah that nothing of this world rises but that He brings it low." العضباء : المشقوقة الأذن وهي اسم ناقة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. أعرابي: ساكن البادية من العرب. قَعُود: هو الفتيُّ من الإبل الذي استحق أن يركب، وأقل ذلك أن يكون سنه ما بين السنتين إلى أن يدخل في السادسة، فإذا دخل السادسة صار جملًا. حتى عرفه: أي عرف النَّبِيّ صلّى الله عليه وسلّم أن السبق قد شق على أصحابه. حق على الله: واجب أوجبه على نفسه سبحانه. وضعه: خفضه وأنزله.
Al-'Adba': the slit-eared one; it is the name of the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Bedouin: a desert-dweller among the Arabs. Young camel (qa'ud): a young male camel that has become fit to be ridden; the least of that is that its age be between two years and entering its sixth year - once it enters the sixth year it becomes a full-grown camel (jamal). Until he recognized it: that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) realized that being outrun had distressed his Companions. A right upon Allah: an obligation that He, Glorified is He, has made binding upon Himself. He brings it low: He lowers it and casts it down.

An explanation that the affairs of this world are deficient and not perfect. An explanation of the humility the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) possessed and of his consoling the hearts of his Companions.
