عَن أبي هُريرةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «أَكْمَلُ المُؤمِنِينَ إِيمَانًا أَحسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا، وخِيارُكُمْ خِيَارُكُمْ لِنِسَائِهمْ». رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وقالَ: حديثٌ حسنٌ صحيحٌ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most complete of the believers in faith are those who are best in character, and the best of you are those who are best to their wives." Recorded by al-Tirmidhi, who said: it is a good and sound (hasan sahih) hadith.

أحسنهم خُلُقًا: حُسنُ الخُلُق أي بَذلُ المعروف، وكفّ الأذى، وطلاقة الوجه.
Best in character: good character means extending kindness, restraining harm, and a cheerful countenance.

الحضُّ على معاملة الزوجة والأم والأخت والبنت والقريبة بطلاقة الوجه وكفّ الأذى والإحسان إليهن والصبر عليهن وإكرامهن. من أهمّ علامات الخيريّة تعامُل الإنسان الحَسن داخل بيته حيث لا يطّلع عليه سائر النّاس. أنّ هناك تلازمًا بين الإيمان والخلق الحسن، فكلما كان العبد أحسن خلقًا كان أكمل إيمانًا، وكلما أحسن للناس بالبشاشة وطلاقة الوجه وطيب المعاملة وكفّ الأذى، كان أفضل عند ربه. أنّ مكانة المرأة في الإسلام مكانةٌ معتبرة مقدّرة.
Encouragement to treat one's wife, mother, sister, daughter, and female relatives with a cheerful countenance, restraint from harm, kindness toward them, patience with them, and honouring them. Among the most important signs of goodness is a person's fine treatment of others within his home, where the rest of the people do not see him. There is an inseparable bond between faith and good character: the more excellent a servant's character, the more complete his faith; and the more he treats people with cheerfulness, a bright countenance, fine conduct, and restraint from harm, the better he is in the sight of his Lord. The status of woman in Islam is an esteemed and valued status.
