عَنْ عائشةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُا قالتْ: قال رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إِنَّ اللهَ رفيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ في الأَمْرِ كُلِّهِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is gentle and loves gentleness in all matters." Agreed upon.

حبّ الله تعالى للرفق واتصافه به فيه ترغيب بالاتصاف به وجعله من صالح أخلاقنا، وأساسًا في تعاملاتنا، لما فيه من لين الجانب والله رفيق بعباده. اختيار الأسهل والألطف من الأقوال والتعاملات لما في ذلك من تواصل وتآلف، خاصّة مع الأطفال في التربية، فلا يكون العقاب والضرب والشدّة الطريقة الشائعة في تعاملنا معهم.
Allah's love of gentleness and His being characterized by it encourages us to adopt it, to make it part of our good character and a foundation of our dealings, because of the soft-heartedness it entails; and Allah is gentle with His servants. Choosing the easier and gentler of words and ways of dealing, because of the connection and harmony this brings, especially with children in upbringing, so that punishment, beating, and harshness do not become the prevailing method in our dealings with them.
