عَن عائشةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُا، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «إِنَّ اللهَ رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفقَ، وَيُعْطِي على الرِّفْقِ ما لا يُعطي عَلى العُنْفِ وَما لا يُعْطِي عَلى ما سِوَاهُ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is gentle and loves gentleness, and grants for gentleness what He does not grant for harshness, and what He does not grant for anything else." Narrated by Muslim.

تفضيل الرفق على كثير من الأخلاق، لذلك كان ما يعطيه الله لصاحبه من الثناء الحسن في الدنيا والأجر الجزيل في الآخرة أكثر مما يعطيه على غيره. كل ما في الرفق من الخير ففي العنف ضده من الشر. كل هدف ومقصود يريد الإنسان تحقيقه فإنّ طلبه بطريق الرفق يكون خيرًا وأنفع وأكثر بركة من طلبه بطريق الشدّة ولو كان طريق الرفق أطول.
The preference of gentleness over many other traits of character; for this reason, what Allah grants its possessor in the way of fine praise in this world and abundant reward in the Hereafter is greater than what He grants for other things. Every good that is in gentleness has, in harshness, its opposite in evil. Every goal and aim a person wishes to achieve, seeking it through the way of gentleness is better, more beneficial, and more blessed than seeking it through harshness, even if the way of gentleness is longer.
