عَنْ أَنسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قال: كُنتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ رسولِ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ وعليهِ بُردٌ نَجْرَانيٌّ غلِيظُ الحَاشِيةِ، فأَدركَهُ أَعْرَابيٌّ، فَجبذهُ بِرِدَائِهِ جَبْذَةً شَديدَةً، فَنظرتُ إلى صفحةِ عاتِقِ النَّبيِّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم وقَدْ أَثَّرَتْ بِها حَاشِيةُ الرِّداءِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ جَبذَتِهِ، ثُمَّ قال: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، مُرْ لي مِنْ مالِ اللهِ الَّذي عِندَكَ، فالتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ رسول الله صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم، فضحِكَ، ثُمَّ أَمرَ لَهُ بعَطَاءٍ. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was wearing a Najrani cloak with a coarse border. A bedouin caught up with him and tugged at his cloak with a violent tug. I looked at the side of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) shoulder, and the border of the cloak had left a mark on it from the force of his tugging. Then he said: "O Muhammad, order that I be given some of the wealth of Allah that you have." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to him and laughed, then ordered that he be given a gift. Agreed upon.

بُرد: ثوب مخطط. نجراني: منسوب إلى نجران وهي بلدة في جنوب الجزيرة العربية. غليظ الحاشية: خشن الجانب. جبذة :جذبة. عاتق: العاتق الجانب وهو ما بين العنق والكتف.
Burd (cloak): a striped garment. Najrani: attributed to Najran, a town in the south of the Arabian Peninsula. Coarse border: with a rough edge. Tug (jabdhah): a pull. 'Atiq (shoulder): the side of the body, the area between the neck and the shoulder.
