عَنْ عائشةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قالتْ: قدِمَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم مِنْ سفَرٍ وقَدْ سَتَرْتُ سَهْوةً لي بقِرامٍ فَيهِ تَمَاثيلُ، فَلمَّا رآهُ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم هتكَهُ وتَلَوَّنَ وجهُهُ وقال: «يَا عائِشَةُ، أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِند اللهِ يومَ القيامةِ الَّذينَ يُضاهُونَ بِخَلقِ اللهِ» مُتَفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, and I had covered a small alcove of mine with a thin curtain on which there were images. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, he tore it down, his face changed color, and he said: "O A'ishah, the most severely punished of people before Allah on the Day of Resurrection are those who imitate the creation of Allah." سهْوَة: هي شبيهة بالخزانة الصغيرة. بقِرام: سترٌ رقيقٌ. هَتَكَهُ: نزعه، وأفسدَ الصورةَ الَّتِي فيهِ. تماثيل: صور مرسومة على هذا الستر القماشي الرقيق. يضاهون: يشبِّهون ما يصنعونه بما يصنعه الله.
Sahwah (alcove): something resembling a small cupboard or recess. Qiram (curtain): a thin veil or drape. He tore it down: he removed it and ruined the image that was on it. Images: pictures drawn upon this thin fabric curtain. Those who imitate: those who liken what they make to what Allah makes.

مشروعية الغضب لوقوع مخالفة لأمور الدين. حمل فريق من العلماء الحديث على عمومه، فحرَّموا كل نوع من أنواع الرسم لما كان له روح، سواء كان رسما مسطَّحا على الورق ونحوه، أو تماثيل منحوتة أو مصنوعة، وخصَّ بعضهم التحريم بالنوع الثاني. التصوير الفوتوغرافي مما وقع فيه الخلاف بين العلماء المعاصرين فينبغي على الإنسان ألا يتوسع فيه إلا لحاجة. لا يحرم تصوير غير ذي روح يستثنى من التحريم لعب البنات، لورود الترخيص فيه.
The legitimacy of anger when a violation of religious matters occurs. A group of scholars took this hadith in its general sense and so forbade every kind of depiction of that which possesses a soul, whether a flat drawing on paper and the like, or carved or manufactured statues; while some restricted the prohibition to the latter kind. Photographic imagery is among the matters over which contemporary scholars have differed, so a person should not be expansive in it except out of need. Depicting that which does not possess a soul is not forbidden. Excepted from the prohibition are girls' dolls, for a dispensation regarding them has been transmitted.
