عَن أنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسُولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «اسْمَعُوا وأَطِيعُوا وإنِ اسْتُعْمِلَ علَيْكُمْ عبْدٌ حَبَشِيٌّ، كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ زَبِيبَةٌ» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيّ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen and obey, even if an Abyssinian slave whose head is like a raisin is appointed over you." [al-Bukhari]
الشرح · explanation
استُعمل: تم وضعه عاملًا أي مسؤولًا عليكم مسؤولية خاصة أو عامة. عبد حبشيّ: مملوك لا ينظر إليه في المجتمع نظرة احترام وتعظيم. كأن رأسه زبيبة: أي شعره مجعَّد مفلفل يشبه الزبيب.
Is appointed: he is placed in charge of you as an official, whether over a specific or a general responsibility. An Abyssinian slave: a bondsman who is not regarded in society with esteem or reverence. Whose head is like a raisin: that is, his hair is curled and kinky, resembling a raisin.

وجوب طاعة وليّ الأمر أو من يولِّيه وليّ الأمر على مسؤوليّة فيما ليس بمعصية دون النظر إلى لونه أو جنسه أو وضعه الاجتماعي. ذكر العبد في الحديث من أجل المبالغة في وجوب الطاعة، رغم تعذُر ذلك في العادة لأنّ من كان مملوكًا في نفسه لا يمكن أن يكون أميرًا أو حاكمًا أو مسؤولًا. ليس المقصود من الحديث إقرار العنصرية أو الانتقاص، وإنما هو إخبار عن واقع حال العرب في ذلك الوقت حيث كان أغلب المماليك يُجلبون من الحبشة، وإلّا فإنّ النّبيّ صلّى الله عليه وسلّم قد مدح النجاشيّ وأمر أصحابه أن يهاجروا إلى بلاده.
The obligation of obeying the ruler, or whoever the ruler appoints to a responsibility, in whatever is not sinful, without regard to his color, race, or social standing. The slave is mentioned in the hadith to emphasize the obligation of obedience, even though such a thing is ordinarily inconceivable, since one who is himself owned as a slave cannot become a leader, ruler, or official. The hadith does not intend to endorse racism or belittlement; rather, it reports the reality of the Arabs at that time, when most slaves were brought from Abyssinia. Otherwise, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praised the Negus and commanded his Companions to migrate to his land.
