عَن ابن عبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُما: أنَّ رسولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ قال: «مَنْ كَرِهَ مِنْ أَمِيرِهِ شيْئًا فَليَصبِرْ، فإنَّهُ مَنْ خَرجَ مِنَ السُّلطَانِ شِبرًا مَاتَ مِيتَةً جاهِلِيَّةً» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever dislikes something from his ruler, let him be patient, for whoever departs from the authority by even a handspan dies the death of the Days of Ignorance." الصبر على أخطاء الحكام، مع إسداء النصح لهم بالطرق الشرعية المناسبة، ويستثنى من ذلك إذا وقع من السلطان الكفر الصريح فلا تجوز طاعته. التنفير من الخروج عن طاعة الأمير المسلم، لما يترتب عليه من مفسدة عامة للمسلمين. الإنكار على السلطان إذا لم يؤدّ الى شقّ العصا والخروج عليه مطلوب.
Patience with the errors of rulers, while offering them sincere advice through the appropriate legitimate means; an exception is made when clear disbelief issues from the ruler, in which case obeying him is not permissible. Deterring people from departing from the obedience of the Muslim ruler, because of the general harm to the Muslims that results from it. Denouncing the ruler's wrong is required when it does not lead to splitting the unity and rebelling against him.
