عَنْ أبي هريرةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قالَ: «…والكلِمةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ صدَقَةٌ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ، وهوَ بَعْضُ حديثٍ تقدَّمَ بطولِهِ (برقم ١٢٢)
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "…and a good word is charity." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim). This is part of a hadith that has already appeared in full (under no. 122).

أن الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر ، وتحسين الكلام للمخاطب بغير الكلام الحرام يعدُّ صدقة. بيان شمول الصدقة لأنواع الخير، وإن كانت تغلب في المال ولكنها تكون في غيره، كالتبسم ولطيف القول وغير ذلك.
Enjoining good and forbidding evil, and speaking kindly to others with words that are not forbidden, are counted as charity. Charity encompasses all kinds of good; though it is most often associated with wealth, it may also take other forms, such as a smile, a gentle word, and the like.
