عَنْ عبدِ اللهِ بنِ يزيدَ الخَطْمِيِّ الصَّحَابيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: كَانَ رسولُ الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم إِذا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوَدِّعَ الجَيْشَ قالَ: «أَسْتَوْدعُ اللهَ دِينَكُمْ، وَأَمَانَتَكُم، وَخَوَاتِيمَ أَعمَالِكُمْ». حديثٌ صحيحٌ، رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ وَغَيْرُهُ بِإسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ.
Abdullah ibn Yazid al-Khatmi, the Companion (may Allah be pleased with him), reported: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wished to bid farewell to the army, he would say: "I entrust to Allah your religion, your trusts, and the outcomes of your deeds." A sahih (authentic) hadith, reported by Abu Dawud and others with a sound chain.

استحباب توديع ولي الأمر جيشه عند ذهابه للقتال وتوصيته بمثل هذه الكلمات اعتناء بدينهم الذي ذهبوا يقاتلون من أجله ورجاء أن يختم لهم بالحسنى. طلب حفظ الوديعة من الله تعالى.
It is recommended for the ruler to bid farewell to his army when it sets out for battle and to enjoin upon it words like these, out of concern for their religion for whose sake they went to fight, and in hope that their lives be sealed with the best of endings. Seeking the preservation of what is entrusted from Allah the Exalted.
