عَنْ عائشةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قالَتْ: كَانَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يُعْجِبُهُ التَّيمُّنُ في شأنِهِ كُلِّهِ: في طُهُوِرِهِ، وَتَرجُّلِهِ، وَتَنَعُّلِهِ. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) loved to begin with the right in all his affairs: in his purification, in combing his hair, and in putting on his sandals. Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

التّيمّن: استعمال اليمين. طُهوره: استعماله الماء للتطهّر. ترجّله: تسريحُه لشعر رأسه. تنعله: إدخال رجليه في النعل والحذاء.
Beginning with the right: using the right side. His purification: his use of water to purify himself. Combing his hair: his combing of the hair of his head. Putting on his sandals: inserting his feet into the sandal and footwear.

It is recommended to begin with the right in everything that is of the nature of honoring, and to begin with the left in everything that is the opposite of that.
