عَنْ حَفْصَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْها: أَنَّ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ كانَ يَجْعَلُ يَمينَهُ لطَعَامِهِ وَشَرَابِهِ وثيابهِ، ويَجْعَلُ يَسارَهُ لما سِوى ذلكَ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ وغَيْرُهُ.
Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would assign his right hand for his food, his drink, and his clothing, and assign his left hand for what was other than that. Reported by Abu Dawud and others.

يندب مباشرة الأكل والشرب باليمين. تفضيل اليمين على اليسار وتخصيص اليمنى لكريم الأفعال وإفراد اليسرى لغير ذلك.
It is recommended to undertake eating and drinking with the right hand. Giving preference to the right over the left, dedicating the right for noble actions and setting aside the left for other than that.
