عَنْ أبي أُمامةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أنَّ النَبيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم كانَ إِذا رَفَعَ مَائِدَتَهُ قالَ: «الحَمْدُ للَّهِ كَثيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ، غَيرَ مَكْفِيٍّ ولا مُوَدَّعٍ، وَلا مُسْتَغْنىً عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed his table (after finishing his meal), he would say: "Praise be to Allah, abundant, good, and blessed praise; He is not to be repaid, nor bidden farewell, nor can He be dispensed with, our Lord." Reported by al-Bukhari.
الشرح · explanation
طيبًا: صالحًا خالصًا منزهًا عن سائر ما ينقصه من رياء أو سمعة. مباركًا: أي فيه بركة تامة لا تنقطع، والبركة هي الزيادة والنماء. غير مكفيّ: أي أنّه تعالى هو المُطعِم والكافي، أو لا نستطيع مكافأته سبحانه على هذه النِّعَم. لا مستغنًى عنه: أي أنّ الله تعالى هو الغنيّ الذي لا يُستغنى عنه، أو نحن لا يمكننا أن نستغني عنه.
"Good": pure and sincere, free of anything that diminishes it, such as showing off or seeking reputation. "Blessed": that is, containing complete, unceasing blessing; barakah is increase and growth. "Not to be repaid": that is, He the Exalted is the One who feeds and suffices, or we are unable to repay Him (Glorified is He) for these blessings. "Nor can He be dispensed with": that is, Allah the Exalted is the Self-Sufficient who cannot be dispensed with, or we can never do without Him.

It is recommended to praise Allah the Exalted at the end of a meal, acknowledging that the blessing and bounty are from Allah, and following the example of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Adhering to the transmitted supplication authentically reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him) realizes true following, earns rewards, and raises one's rank.
