عَنْ عبدِ اللهِ بنِ بُسْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قال: كان لِلنَّبيِّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَصْعَةٌ يُقالُ لها: الْغَرَّاءُ، يحْمِلُهَا أَرْبَعَةُ رِجالٍ، فَلمَّا أَضْحَوْا وَسَجَدُوا الضُّحى أُتِيَ بتِلْكَ الْقَصْعَةِ، يعني وقدْ ثُرِدَ فيها، فالتَفُّوا عليها، فَلَمَّا كَثُرُوا جَثَا رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ، فقالَ أَعرابيٌّ: ما هذهِ الجِلْسةُ؟ قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «إِنَّ اللهَ جَعَلني عَبْدًا كَرِيمًا ولَمْ يجْعَلْني جَبَّارًا عَنيدًا»، ثمَّ قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «كُلُوا مِنْ حَوَالَيْهَا، وَدَعُوا ذِرْوَتَهَا يُبَارَكْ فيه» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بإِسنادٍ جَيِّدٍ.
Abdullah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a large bowl called al-Gharra' which four men would carry. When they had entered the forenoon and prayed the Duha (forenoon) prayer, that bowl was brought — with tharid crumbled in it — and they gathered around it. When they became many, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) knelt down. A bedouin said: What kind of sitting is this? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has made me a noble servant and has not made me an obstinate tyrant." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat from its sides and leave its top, that it may be blessed." Reported by Abu Dawud with a good chain.

أضحوا: دخلوا في وقت الضحى وهو أول النهار. سجدوا الضحى: أي صلوا الضحى. وقد ثرد فيها: أي جعل فيها الثريد، وهو الخبز المفتوت المبلل بمرق اللحم ومعه أجزاء من اللحم. جثا: جلس على ركبتيه واستند على أطراف أصابع رجليه. عبدًا كريمًا: متواضعًا شريفًا بالنبوة والعلم. جبارًا: متكبرًا. حواليها: جوانبها. ذِرْوَتَهَا: أَعْلاَهَا.
"Entered the forenoon": they reached the time of Duha, which is the early part of the day. "Prayed the Duha": that is, they performed the forenoon prayer. "With tharid crumbled in it": that is, tharid had been placed in it, which is crumbled bread moistened with meat broth along with pieces of meat. "Knelt down" (jatha): he sat upon his knees, resting on the tips of his toes. "A noble servant": humble, honored with prophethood and knowledge. "A tyrant": arrogant. "Its sides" (hawalayha): its edges. "Its top" (dhirwatuha): its highest part.
