عَنْ جابرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ قالَ: «إِنّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَحضرُ أَحدَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ شَيءٍ مِنْ شَأْنِهِ، حتَّى يَحْضُرَهُ عِندَ طعَامِهِ، فَإِذا سَقَطَتْ لُقْمةُ أَحَدِكمْ فَليَأْخذْهَا فَلْيُمِطْ ما كانَ بها مِنْ أَذًى، ثُمَّ ليَأْكُلْهَا ولا يَدَعْها للشَّيْطَانِ، فإذا فَرغَ فَلْيَلْعَقْ أَصابِعَهُ، فإِنَّه لا يدْرِي في أَيِّ طعامِهِ البرَكَةُ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The devil is present with one of you in everything he does, even attending him at his food. So when a morsel of food falls from one of you, let him pick it up and remove any dirt on it, then eat it and not leave it for the devil. And when he has finished, let him lick his fingers, for he does not know in which part of his food the blessing lies." Reported by Muslim.

شأنه: أمره وحاله فَلْيُمِط: فلْيُنحِّ ولْيُزِل.
"His affair" (sha'nihi): his matters and circumstances. "Let him remove" (fal-yumit): let him set aside and take away.

أنّ الشيطان ملازم للإنسان في تصرفاته فليحذره، وليحذر من إغرائه بمعصية الله تعالى. وجوب التسمية عند الطعام، ليطرد الشيطان عند الأكل. أكل ما وقع على الأرض بعد تخليصه من الوسخ، هذا إذا أمكن تخليصه ولم يقع على مكان نجس. اللّعق المندوب هو بعد الانتهاء من الطعام والأفضل بعيدًا عن نظر المشاركين له الطعام.
The devil constantly accompanies a person in his actions, so let him beware of him and of his enticement to disobedience of Allah the Exalted. The obligation of mentioning Allah's name at meals, so as to drive away the devil while eating. Eating what falls on the ground after cleaning off the dirt — this is when it can be cleaned and did not fall on an impure place. The recommended licking is after finishing the meal, and it is better done away from the sight of those sharing the food with him.
