عَنْ أَنسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قال: كان رسولُ الله صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم إِذا أَكَلَ طعَامًا لعِقَ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلاثَ وقالَ: «إِذا سقَطَتْ لُقمةُ أَحدِكمْ فَلْيُمِطْ عنها الأذى، وليَأْكُلْهَا، ولا يَدعْهَا للشَّيطَانِ» وأَمَرنَا أَنْ نَسْلُتَ القَصْعةَ وقالَ: «إِنَّكمْ لا تدْرُونَ في أَيِّ طَعَامِكمُ البَركةُ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ .
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ate food, he would lick his three fingers and say: "When a morsel of food falls from one of you, let him remove the dirt from it and eat it, and not leave it for the devil." And he commanded us to wipe out the dish, saying: "You do not know in which part of your food the blessing lies." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
نَسلُتَ: نمسح ونزيل ما فيها من طعام. القصعة: اسم لإناء يسع أن يأكل عليه عشرة أشخاص، والمراد أيّ إناء ولو كان أصغر.
"Wipe out" (naslut): we wipe and remove whatever food is in it. "The bowl" (qas'ah): the name of a vessel large enough for ten people to eat from; what is meant is any vessel, even a smaller one.

الاستفادة من الطعام، وعدم تركه للشيطان، وعدم إهداره وطرحه تكبرًا وبطرًا. مسح آثار الطعام من الأواني ولعق الأصابع، وبذلك تحصل البركة. توجيه النبي صلّى الله عليه وسلّم إلى عدم إضاعة شيء من الطعام وبذلك تحصل الكفاية والاقتصاد، وتحصل البركة. أن يكون الطعام الموضوع غير زائد على ما يُتوقَّع من احتياج الآكلين.
Benefiting from the food, not leaving it for the devil, and not wasting or discarding it out of arrogance and extravagance. Wiping the traces of food from the vessels and licking the fingers, by which the blessing is attained. The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) guidance not to waste any food, by which sufficiency, moderation, and blessing are achieved. That the food served should not exceed what the diners are expected to need.
