عَنْ أبي قَتَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ النَّبيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ نَهَى أنْ يُتَنَفَّسَ في الإِنَاءِ. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade breathing into the vessel. Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

كراهة التنفس في الإناء أثناء الشرب أو بعد الجرعات وفمه على الإناء، لئلا يتأثر الماء من بصاق أو رائحة كريهة فيعافه الشارب ويستقذره أو تنتقل إليه بعض الأمراض.
The disapproval of breathing into the vessel while drinking, or between draughts while one's mouth is still on the vessel, lest the water be tainted by saliva or a foul odor so that the drinker finds it repugnant and unclean, or lest some diseases be transmitted through it.
