عَنْ حُذيفةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم نَهَانَا عَنِ الحَريرِ والدِّيبَاجِ، والشُّرْبِ في آنِيةِ الذَّهَبِ والفِضَّةِ وقالَ: «هي لهُمْ في الدُّنْيا، وَهِيَ لَكُمْ في الآخِرَةِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلِيْهِ.
Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from silk and brocade, and from drinking in vessels of gold and silver, and he said: "They are for them in this world, and they are for you in the Hereafter." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

نهانا: النهي موجَّه للرجال في لبس الحرير والديباج أما في الآنية فهو عام لكل الأمة رجالا ونساء. الدِّيبَاج: ثوب خيوطه ونسيجه من الحرير. هي لهم: أي للكفار.
"He forbade us": the prohibition is directed at men regarding the wearing of silk and brocade; but as for vessels, it is general for the whole community, men and women alike. Brocade (dibaj): a garment whose threads and weave are of silk. "They are for them": that is, for the disbelievers.
