عَنْ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسُولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «الْبَسُوا البَيَاضَ، فَإِنَّها أَطْهرُ وأَطْيبُ، وكَفِّنُوا فِيها مَوْتَاكُمْ» رَوَاهُ النِّسَائِيُّ، وَالْحَاكِمُ وقالَ: حديثٌ صحيحٌ.
Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wear white, for it is purer and more wholesome, and shroud your dead in it." Reported by al-Nasa'i and al-Hakim, who said: a sahih hadith.
الشرح · explanation
أطهر: لأنّها أبعد عن مخالطة الدنس، بسبب كثرة غسلها. أطيب: لأنّها أبعد عن الخيلاء الذي يكون بلبس الملونات غالبًا.
Purer: because it is further from mingling with filth, on account of being washed frequently. More wholesome: because it is further from the vanity that generally accompanies the wearing of colored garments.
