عنْ مُعاويةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسُولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «لا تَرْكَبُوا الْخَزَّ وَلاَ النِّمارَ». رواهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ وغيرُهُ بإسنادٍ حسنٍ.
Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not ride upon khazz (silk) nor upon leopard skins." Reported by Abu Dawud and others with a hasan (good) chain.
الشرح · explanation
لا تَرْكَبُوا: لا تفترشوا ولا تجلسوا عليها. الخَزَّ: مَا ينسج من الحرير. النِّمار: المراد جلد النمور.
"Do not ride" (la tarkabu): do not spread them out nor sit upon them. "Al-khazz": what is woven from silk. "Al-nimar": what is meant is the skins of leopards.
