عَنْ أبي عبدِ اللهِ سَلْمانَ الفارِسيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «لا يَغْتَسِلُ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ الجُمُعةِ، وَيَتَطهّرُ ما اسْتَطاعَ مِنْ طُهْرٍ، وَيدَّهنُ منْ دُهْنِهِ، أوْ يَمَسُّ مِنْ طيبِ بَيْتهِ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَلاَ يُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ اثْنينِ، ثُمَّ يُصَلّي ما كُتِبَ لهُ، ثُمَّ يُنْصِتُ إذَا تَكَلَّمَ الإمامُ، إلاَّ غُفِرَ لهُ ما بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الجمُعَةِ الأُخْرَى» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Abu Abdullah Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No man bathes on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, applies oil, or touches some perfume of his house, then goes out and does not separate two people, then prays what has been prescribed for him, then remains silent when the imam speaks, except that he will be forgiven for what is between it and the next Friday." يدّهن: ما يدهن من زيت ونحوه لإزالة شعث الرأس واللحية. ينصت: أي يسكت سكوت المستمع.
"Applies oil": whatever he anoints himself with, such as oil and the like, to remove the disheveledness of the head and beard. "Remains silent (yunsit)": that is, he keeps the silence of an attentive listener.

الجلوس حيث ينتهي المجلس فلا يتخطى رقاب الناس ولا يفرق بين الجالسين. فضل الاغتسال لصلاة الجمعة ويدخل وقت الغسل من طلوع الفجر الصادق، وتأخيره إلى قبيل خروجه للصلاة أفضل. استحباب استعمال الطيب. استحباب التطوع قبل الخطبة ووجوب الإنصات عندها. أن الجمعة بهذه الآداب تكفر ذنوب جمعة كاملة من غير الكبائر، أما الكبائر فتحتاج إلى توبة، وكذلك ما يتعلق بحقوق الناس فيجب أداء حقوقهم.
Sitting wherever the gathering ends, so that one does not step over people's necks nor separate those who are seated. The merit of bathing (ghusl) for the Friday prayer; the time for the bath begins at the break of true dawn, and delaying it until just before going out to the prayer is better. The recommendation of using perfume. The recommendation of voluntary prayer before the sermon and the obligation of listening silently during it. Friday, with these etiquettes, expiates the sins of an entire week apart from the major sins; as for the major sins, they require repentance, and likewise what pertains to the rights of people, for their rights must be fulfilled.
