عَنْ عمْرِو بنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عنْ أبيهِ، عنْ جَدِّهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أنَّ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ قالَ: «لا يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ أنْ يُفَرِّقَ بَيْنَ اثْنيْنِ إلّا بإذْنِهِمَا» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ، والتِّرْمِذِيُّ وقالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ. وفي روايةٍ لأبي دَاوُودَ: «لا يُجْلَسُ بَيْنَ رَجُليْنِ إلّا بإذْنِهمَا».
Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not lawful for a man to separate two people except with their permission." Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith. In a narration of Abu Dawud: "One should not sit between two men except with their permission."

حرمة التفرقة بين اثنين والجلوس بينهما إلّا بإذنهما، ويلحق به أنّه لا يجوز له التسمع إلى كلامهما إلّا برضاهما إذا كانا يتكلمان سرًا.
The prohibition of separating two people and of sitting between them except with their permission; attached to this is that it is not permitted for him to listen in on their conversation except with their consent, if they are speaking privately.
