عَنْ أبي سعيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: سَمِعْتُ رسولَ اللهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يقولُ: «خَيْرُ الْمَجَالِسِ أوْسَعُهَا» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بإسنادٍ صحيحٍ على شرطِ الْبُخَارِيِّ.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The best of gatherings is the most spacious." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain according to the criterion of al-Bukhari.

استحباب إفساح المجالس وتوسيعها. أن توسعة المجالس فيها الخير والبركة وإراحة الجالسين، وفيها دفع لما يُفضي إلى التزاحم والكراهية والبغض بسبب المجالس الضيقة.
The recommendation of making gatherings roomy and spacious. Spaciousness in gatherings holds goodness and blessing and ease for those seated, and wards off what leads to crowding, dislike, and enmity caused by cramped gatherings.
