عَنْ أبي سعيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: أنَّهُ سمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يقول: «إذا رَأى أَحدُكُمْ رُؤْيَا يُحبُّهَا فَإنَّما هِيَ منَ الله تعالى، فَليَحْمَدِ اللهَ عَلَيْهَا، وَلْيُحَدِّثْ بِها وفي روايةٍ: فَلا يُحَدِّثْ بَها إلّا مَنْ يُحِبُّ- وَإذا رأى غَيْرَ ذَلكَ مِمَّا يَكرَهُ فإنَّمـا هِيَ منَ الشَّيْطانِ، فَليَسْتَعِذْ منْ شَرِّهَا، وَلا يَذْكُرْهَا لأحدٍ، فإنَّها لا تَضُرُّهُ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ .
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If any of you sees a dream that he likes, it is only from Allah, so let him praise Allah for it and speak of it." In another narration: "Let him not speak of it except to one whom he loves." "And if he sees other than that, of what he dislikes, it is only from Satan, so let him seek refuge from its evil and not mention it to anyone, for then it will not harm him." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

من رأى خيرًا فليحمد الله ويحدث بها من يحب، ومن رأى شرًا فليستعذ بالله ولا يحدث بها. أنّ الإنسان إذا رأى رؤيا حسنة فليضفها إلى الله تعالى وليحمد الله على أن رأى ما يسره، وإذا رأى رؤيا سيئة فليضفها إلى الشيطان لأنّها غالبًا من وساوسه.
Whoever sees good should praise Allah and relate it to those he loves; and whoever sees evil should seek refuge in Allah and not relate it. When a person sees a good dream, he should attribute it to Allah the Exalted and praise Allah for having shown him what delights him; and when he sees a bad dream, he should attribute it to Satan, since it usually stems from his whisperings.
