حديث 861·الباب 135 · باب استحباب السّلام إذا دخل بيته·رياض الصالحين · Riyad Al Salihin

عَنْ أنسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ لي رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «يا بُنَيَّ، إذا دَخَلْتَ عَلى أهْلِكَ فَسَلِّمْ، يَكُنْ بَركةً عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أهْلِ بَيْتِكَ» رواهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وقالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صحيحٌ.

From Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O my son, when you enter upon your family, give the greeting; it will be a blessing upon you and upon the people of your household." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan sahih hadith.

يستحب لمن دخل بيته أن يسلّم على أهله، فإن الخير والبركة تحصل له ولأهله في ذلك من ذكر اللّهِ تعالى، وتحصل بسببه المودة والرحمة. جواز نداء الغريب بيا بنيّ، لما في ذلك من العطف عليه والتحبب له. يستحب لمن دخل بيته أن يسلّم ولو لم يكن فيه أحد.

It is recommended for one who enters his house to greet his family, for goodness and blessing accrue to him and to his family through that remembrance of Allah the Exalted, and by it affection and mercy are attained. The permissibility of addressing a young non-relative as "O my son," because of the tenderness and endearment it conveys. It is recommended for one who enters his house to give the greeting even if there is no one in it.
