عَنْ أبي سعيدٍ الخدريّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «إذَا تَثاءَبَ أحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُمسِكْ بَيدهِ على فيهِ، فإنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you yawns, let him hold his hand over his mouth, for Satan enters." Reported by Muslim.

استحباب وضع اليد على الفم عند التثاؤب منعًا من تحقيق غرض الشيطان. التزام آداب الإسلام في جميع الحالات لأنّها عنوان الكمال والأخلاق. ليحرص المسلم على طرد الشيطان ووساوسه، ويمنعه من إغوائه وتضليله. يُكره للمتثائب أن يخرج صوتًا من فمه.
It is recommended to place the hand over the mouth when yawning, to prevent Satan from achieving his aim. Adhering to the manners of Islam in all circumstances, for they are the mark of perfection and good character. Let the Muslim be keen to drive away Satan and his whisperings, and to prevent him from tempting and misleading him. It is disliked for the one yawning to let out a sound from his mouth.
