عَنْ أنسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: لَمَّا جَاءَ أهْلُ اليَمنِ قالَ رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ أهْلُ الْيَمَنِ وَهُمْ أوَّلُ مَنْ جَاءَ بالمُصَافَحَةِ». رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بإسنادٍ صحيحٍ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the people of Yemen came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people of Yemen have come to you, and they are the first to bring handshaking." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.

أهل اليمن: أي بعض أهل اليمن، والمراد بالجملة الترحيب والاحتفاء بهم.
"The people of Yemen": that is, some of the people of Yemen; the statement is meant as a welcome and a warm reception of them.

مشروعية المصافحة بتقرير النّبيّ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم. فضيلة أهل اليمن لأنّهم أول من أظهر المصافحة في الناس، فكانت سنّة حسنة وافقهم عليها رسول اللّهِ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم. قال بعض العلماء: قوله: "وهم أول من جاء بالمصافحة". من كلام أنس بن مالك رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ وليس من كلامه صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم.
The legitimacy of handshaking, by the tacit approval of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The merit of the people of Yemen, since they were the first to make handshaking manifest among people, so it became a good practice that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) endorsed. Some scholars said that his words, "and they are the first to bring handshaking," are from the speech of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and not from the speech of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
