عَنِ ابنِ عمرَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُما قِصَّةٌ قالَ فيها: فَدَنَوْنا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ فَقَبَّلْنَا يَدَهُ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ. سبب ورود الحديث: ما جاء من طريق عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، أنّ عبد اللّهِ بن عمر قال: كنت في سريّة من سرايا رسول اللّهِ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم فحاص الناس حيصة، وكنت فيمن حاص فقلنا: كيف نصنع؟ وقد فررنا من الزحف، وبؤنا بالغضب، ثم قلنا: لو دخلنا المدينة فبتنا، ثم قلنا: لو عرضنا أنفسنا على رسول اللّهِ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم، فإن كانت لنا توبة، وإلّا ذهبنا فأتيناه قبل صلاة الغداة فخرج، فقال: "من القوم؟" قال: فقلنا: نحن الفرارون، قال: "لا بل أنتم العكّارون، أنا فئتكم وأنا فئة المسلمين" قال: فأتيناه حتى قبلنا يده العَكَّارون: هم الذين يعودون إلى القتال ويعطفون عليه (الكرّ والرجوع لنصرة إخوانهم).

Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) [narrated] a story in which he said: We drew near to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and kissed his hand. Reported by Abu Dawud. The occasion of the hadith: What is reported through the route of Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, that Abdullah ibn Umar said: I was in one of the expeditions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The people broke and fled, and I was among those who fled. We said: "What shall we do? We have fled from battle and brought upon ourselves [Allah's] wrath." Then we said: "Let us enter Medina and spend the night there." Then we said: "Let us present ourselves to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); if there is repentance for us [we will stay], and if not, we will depart." So we came to him before the dawn prayer. He came out and said: "Who are these people?" We said: "We are those who fled." He said: "No, rather you are those who return to the attack (al-akkarun). I am your rallying force, and I am the rallying force of the Muslims." He said: So we came to him until we kissed his hand. Al-akkarun: they are those who return to the fight and turn back to it (charging and returning to support their brothers).
