عَنْ عائشةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْها قالتْ: «قَدِم زَيْدُ بْنُ حَارثةَ المدينةَ ورسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ في بَيْتي، فأتَاهُ فَقَرَعَ البابَ، فَقَامَ إلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَجُرُّ ثوْبَهُ، فَاعْتَنَقَهُ وَقَبَّلَهُ » رواه التِّرْمِذِيُّ وقالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Zayd ibn Harithah arrived in Medina while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in my house. He came to him and knocked on the door. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rose to go to him, dragging his garment, and he embraced him and kissed him. Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith.

جواز تقبيل واعتناق من قدم من سفر وأما النهي الوارد عن المعانقة: المراد به المعانقة مع كل لقاء وليس معانقة السفر. الإسراع إلى ملاقاة من يحبّ إذا شعر بوصوله. فضل زيد بن حارثة، وحُبُّ رسول اللّهِ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم له.
It is permissible to kiss and embrace one who has arrived from a journey; as for the prohibition reported concerning embracing, what is meant by it is embracing at every [ordinary] meeting, not the embrace of welcoming one returning from travel. Hastening to meet the one he loves when he senses his arrival. The merit of Zayd ibn Harithah, and the love of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for him.
