عَنْ أبي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «إنَّ اللّهَ عزَّ وجلَّ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ القيَامَةِ: «يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ مَرِضْتُ فَلَمْ تَعُدْني! قالَ: يا ربِّ كَيْفَ أعُودُكَ وأنْتَ رَبُّ العَالَمينَ؟! قالَ: أمَا عَلِمْتَ أنَّ عَبْدي فُلاَنًا مَرِضَ فَلَمْ تَعُدْهُ؟ أمَا عَلمتَ أنَّكَ لو عُدْتَهُ لَوَجَدْتَنِي عِنْدَهُ؟ يا ابْن آدمَ اسْتَطْعَمْتُكَ فلمْ تُطْعِمْنِي! قالَ: يا ربِّ وَكَيْفَ أُطْعِمُكَ وَأَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ؟! قالَ: أما عَلِمْتَ أَنَّهُ اسْتَطْعَمَكَ عَبْدِي فُلاَنٌ فَلَمْ تُطْعِمْهُ؟ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّكَ لَوْ أَطْعَمْتَهُ لَوَجَدْتَ ذَلَكَ عِنْدِي؟ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ، اسْتَسْقَيْتُكَ فَلَمْ تَسْقِنِي! قالَ: يا ربِّ كَيْفَ أُسْقِيكَ وَأَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ؟! قالَ: اسْتَسْقَاكَ عَبْدِي فُلاَنٌ فَلَمْ تَسْقِهِ! أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أنَّكَ لَوْ سَقَيْتَهُ لوَجَدْتَ ذَلِكَ عِنْدِي؟» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) will say on the Day of Resurrection: 'O son of Adam, I fell ill and you did not visit Me.' He will say: 'O my Lord, how could I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds?!' He will say: 'Did you not know that My servant so-and-so fell ill, yet you did not visit him? Did you not know that had you visited him, you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you did not feed Me.' He will say: 'O my Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds?!' He will say: 'Did you not know that My servant so-and-so asked you for food, yet you did not feed him? Did you not know that had you fed him, you would have found that with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you for drink and you did not give Me to drink.' He will say: 'O my Lord, how could I give You to drink when You are the Lord of the worlds?!' He will say: 'My servant so-and-so asked you for drink, yet you did not give him to drink! Did you not know that had you given him to drink, you would have found that with Me?'" Reported by Muslim.

إن اللّه عز وجل يقول: هذا من الأحاديث القدسية. لوجدتني عنده: لوجدتني عالمًا بعيادتك له فأثيبك عليها. استطعمتك: طلبت منك الطعام لعبدي السائل. لوجدت ذلك عندي: أي ثوابه المضاعف. استسقيتك: طلبت منك السقيا لعبدي السائل.
"Indeed Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) says": this is among the sacred (qudsi) hadiths. "You would have found Me with him": you would have found Me aware of your visiting him, so that I would reward you for it. "I asked you for food": I requested food from you for My servant who was begging. "You would have found that with Me": that is, its multiplied reward. "I asked you for drink": I requested drink from you for My servant who was begging.

الحثّ على عيادة المريض وإطعام الطعام وبذل الماء لمن يحتاج إليه، وأن اللّه قد تكفل بالأجر والمثوبة يوم القيامة. أنّ من أحسن إلى الخلق وأدّى حقهم وأعانهم أجزل اللّه تعالى له الأجر والعطاء.
Encouragement to visit the sick, to feed others, and to give water to whoever needs it, and that Allah has taken upon Himself the reward and recompense on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is good to creation, fulfills their rights, and aids them, Allah the Exalted grants him abundant reward and bounty.
