عَنْ أبي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عُودُوا المَرِيضَ، وَأَطْعِمُوا الجَائعَ، وَفُكُّوا العَاني» رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Visit the sick, feed the hungry, and free the captive." Reported by al-Bukhari.
الشرح · explanation
فكوا العَاني: أطلقوا سراح الأسِيرِ، وقد يراد بالعاني من غلبه الدَّين، وقيل: كل من ذل.
"Free the captive": set the prisoner free. It may also be intended to mean one overwhelmed by debt, and it is said: everyone who is humbled.
