عَنْ أَبي موسى رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ رسولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ قالَ: «إِذا ماتَ وَلدُ العبْدِ قال اللّهُ تعالى لملائِكَتِهِ: قَبضْتُمْ وَلدَ عَبْدِي؟ فيقولُونَ: نعَمْ، فيقولُ: قَبَضْتُمْ ثمَرَةَ فُؤَادِهِ؟ فيقولونَ: نَعم، فَيَقُولُ: فَمَاذَا قالَ عبْدِي؟ فيقُولُونَ: حمِدكَ واسْتَرْجعَ، فيقولُ اللّهُ تعالى: ابْنُوا لعبدِي بَيْتًا في الجَنَّةِ، وَسَمُّوهُ بيْتَ الحمْدِ» رواهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وقال: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.
On the authority of Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the child of a servant dies, Allah the Exalted says to His angels: 'Have you taken the child of My servant?' They say: 'Yes.' He says: 'Have you taken the fruit of his heart?' They say: 'Yes.' He says: 'What did My servant say?' They say: 'He praised You and said: To Allah we belong and to Him we return.' So Allah the Exalted says: 'Build for My servant a house in Paradise, and name it the House of Praise.'" Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith.

قبضتم: أخذتم ثمرة فؤاده: أي خلاصة قلبه استرجع: أي قال: إنا للّه وإنا إليه راجعون
"You have taken (qabadtum)": you have seized. "The fruit of his heart (thamarat fu'adihi)": that is, the dearest essence of his heart. "He said 'to Allah we return' (istarja'a)": that is, he said: "To Allah we belong and to Him we return."

الترغيب في الحمد للّه والصبر عند المصيبة، والرضا بالقضاء والقدر. الوعد الحسن بالجزاء الأعظم في الجنّة على الصبر والرضا. أن فقد الولد من المصائب العظيمة، فمن صبر عليها ورضي بقضاء اللّهِ وقدره، حصل له هذا الأجر العظيم بفضل اللّهِ وكرمه.
Encouragement to praise Allah and to be patient at calamity, and to be content with the divine decree and destiny. The good promise of the greatest recompense in Paradise for patience and contentment. That the loss of a child is among the greatest calamities; whoever is patient with it and content with Allah's decree and destiny attains this great reward by Allah's grace and generosity.
