Riyad Al Salihin

On the authority of Usama ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both): that the child of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was brought up to him while he was dying. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) overflowed with tears, so Sad said to him: "What is this, O Messenger of Allah?!" He said: "This is a mercy that Allah the Exalted has placed in the hearts of His servants. Allah shows mercy only to those of His servants who are merciful." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

There is no blame in weeping over the deceased without loud wailing and shrieking, and this is not counted as niyahah (wailing). Weeping over the deceased is evidence of mercy and compassion in the heart.
