عَنْ أبي هُريْرَةَ رَضِي اللّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ في الصَّلاةِ عَلى الجَنَازَةِ: «اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ ربُّهَا، وَأَنْتَ خَلَقْتَها، وأَنْتَ هَديْتَهَا لِلإِسلامِ، وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا، وَأَنْتَ أَعْلمُ بِسِرِّها وَعَلانِيَتِهَا، جئْنَاك شُفَعاءَ لَهُ، فاغْفِرْ لهُ». رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the prayer over a funeral: "O Allah, You are its Lord, You created it, You guided it to Islam, and You have taken its soul. You know best its secret and its open state. We have come as intercessors for him, so forgive him." Reported by Abu Dawud.

ربها: سيدها ومالكها. قبضت روحها: أمرت بقبض روحها. بسرِّها: بما كانت تسرُّه وتضمره من إيمان ونية. وعلانيتها: بما تظهره من عمل وطاعة.
"Its Lord": its Master and Owner. "You have taken its soul": You commanded the taking of its soul. "Its secret": the faith and intention that it used to keep hidden and concealed within. "And its open state": the deeds and acts of obedience that it used to display openly.
