عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُمَا قالَ: كانَ رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ إذا سَافَرَ فَأَقْبَلَ اللَّيْلُ قَالَ: «يَا أَرْضُ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكِ اللّهُ، أَعُوذُ بِاللّهِ مِنْ شرِّكِ وشَرِّ ما فِيكِ، وَشَرِّ مَا خُلِقَ فِيكِ، وشَرِّ مَا يَدِبُّ عَلَيْكِ، أَعُوذُ بِاللّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ أَسَدٍ وَأَسْوَدَ، ومِنَ الحَيَّةِ وَالْعَقْرَبِ، وَمِنْ سَاكِنِ البَلَدِ، ومِنْ وَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) traveled and night approached, he would say: "O earth, my Lord and your Lord is Allah. I seek refuge in Allah from your evil, the evil of what is in you, the evil of what has been created in you, and the evil of what crawls upon you. I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of lions and of black creatures, and from serpents and scorpions, and from the dwellers of the land, and from a parent and what it has begotten." Reported by Abu Dawud.
الشرح · explanation
فأقبل اللّيل: أي جاء اللّيل ونزل رسول اللّهِ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم منزلًا. ما فيك: من المؤذيات. ما يدبّ: ما يمشي ويتحرك من الحيوانات والحشرات ممّا فيه ضرر. الأسود: قيل الشَّخْصُ وقيل الحيّة العظيمة الّتي فيها سواد. سَاكِن الْبَلَد: هُمُ الجِنُّ الَّذِينَ همْ سُكَّانُ الأرْضِ. ومن وَالِد: أي إِبْلِيس. وَمَا وَلَد: أي الشَّيَاطِين.
"And night approached": that is, night came and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) alighted at a stopping place. "What is in you": of harmful things. "What crawls": what walks and moves of animals and insects that carry harm. "The black one (al-aswad)": it is said to mean the figure, and it is said to be the great serpent that has blackness in it. "The dwellers of the land": they are the jinn who inhabit the earth. "And from a parent (walid)": that is, Iblis. "And what it has begotten": that is, the devils.

استحباب الدعاء بهذه الكلمات عند النزول وخاصّة في اللّيل، لأنّه مظنّة الأذى أكثر من النهار بسبب استتار المؤذيات المذكورة في ظلمته. اللجوء إلى اللّهِ عزّ وجلّ والاستعاذة به من كل شرّ.
The recommendation of supplicating with these words when alighting, especially at night, because it is more likely a time of harm than daytime, since the harmful things mentioned lie concealed in its darkness.
