عَنْ عمرَ بنِ الخطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «إِنَّ اللّهَ يرفَعُ بِهذَا الكتابِ أَقْوَامًا، ويضَعُ بِهِ آخَرينَ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah raises some peoples by this Book and lowers others by it." Reported by Muslim.

"Lowers (yada')": that is, He debases and brings low.

الحثّ على الاهتمام بكتاب اللّهِ تعالى تلاوة وفهمًا وحفظًا وعملًا، لأنّ من تمسك بذلك عظم ذكره، ومن أعرض عنه وأهمله سقط وخسر. أن من عمل بهذا القرآن وصدّق خبَره، وائتمر بأمره واجتنب نهيه، واهتدى بهديه، وتخلق بأخلاقه، فإنّ اللّه تعالى يرفعه به في الدنيا والآخرة.
Encouragement to give attention to the Book of Allah the Exalted—in recitation, understanding, memorization, and practice—because whoever holds fast to that has his renown magnified, while whoever turns away from it and neglects it falls and loses. Whoever acts by this Qur'an, affirms its tidings, complies with its commands, avoids its prohibitions, follows its guidance, and adopts its character—Allah the Exalted raises him by it in this world and the Hereafter.
