عَنِ ابنِ مسعودٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قال رسولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «مَنْ قرأَ حرْفًا مِنْ كتابِ اللّهِ فلَهُ حَسَنَةٌ، والحسنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمثَالِهَا، لاَ أَقولُ: الۤمۤ حَرفٌ، وَلكِنْ: أَلِفٌ حرْفٌ، ولامٌ حرْفٌ، ومِيمٌ حرْفٌ» رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah has a good deed [credited to him], and a good deed is multiplied tenfold. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter; rather, Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan sahih hadith.

ثواب قارئ القرآن كبير لا يعلم مقداره إلّا اللّه عزّ وجلّ. أنّ لقارئ القرآن بكل حرف من كل كلمة يتلوها حسنة واللّه يضاعف لمن يشاء.
The reward of the one who recites the Qur'an is great; none knows its measure except Allah (the Mighty and Majestic). The reciter of the Qur'an receives a good deed for every letter of every word he recites, and Allah multiplies it for whom He wills.
