عَنْ أبي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قال: سمِعتُ رسولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يقول: «مَا أَذِنَ اللّهُ لِشَيْءٍ مَا أَذِنَ لِنَبِيٍّ حَسَنِ الصَّوْتِ يَتَغَنَّى بِالْقُرْآنِ يَجْهَرُ بِهِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah has not listened to anything as He listens to a Prophet with a beautiful voice reciting the Qur'an melodiously, reciting it aloud." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
الشرح · explanation
أَذِنَ اللّه: أي اسْتَمَعَ، وَهُوَ إشَارَةٌ إلى الرِّضَا وَالقَبُولِ. يتغنّى: أي يحسّن القراءة والصوت، ويجهر به.
"Allah has listened (adhina)": that is, He has given ear, and it is an indication of pleasure and acceptance. "Reciting melodiously (yataghanna)": that is, he makes the recitation and the voice beautiful, and recites it aloud.

Allah, Glorified and Exalted, grants a great reward for a beautiful voice used in reciting the Qur'an. The permissibility of beautifying the voice and rendering the Qur'an melodiously, provided it does not lead to alteration by adding or dropping a letter.
