عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بنِ عامِرٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رسولَ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قالَ: «أَلَمْ تَرَ آيَاتٍ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ لَمْ يُرَ مِثلُهُنَّ قَطُّ؟ قُلْ أَعُوذُ برَبِّ الفَلَقِ و قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Uqbah ibn Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not see the verses that were revealed this night, the like of which has never been seen? 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak' and 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.'" Reported by Muslim.

ألم تر: كلمة تعجب. لم ير مثلهنّ: أي لم يوجد آيات كلهن تعويذ غير هاتين السورتين. قطّ: هي الأبد الماضي. أعوذ: أعتصم وأستجير. الفلق: الصبح.
"Do you not see": an expression of wonder. "the like of which has never been seen": that is, no verses exist that are entirely a means of seeking refuge except these two surahs. "Ever (qatt)": it refers to the whole of past time. "I seek refuge (aʿudhu)": I take shelter and seek protection. "al-Falaq": the daybreak.
