عَنْ أَبي مَالكٍ الأَشْعَرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عنْهُ قَالَ: قالَ رسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «الطُّهُورُ شَطْرُ الإِيمانِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Malik al-Ashʿari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Purification is half of faith." Reported by Muslim.

"al-tuhur (purification)": the act of purifying oneself. "shatr": half.
