عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَالَ: «مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ يتوضَّأُ فَيُبْلِغُ أَو فَيُسْبِغُ الوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَشْهدُ أَنْ لا إِلٰهَ إِلّا اللّهُ وحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لهُ، وأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحمَّدًا عبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ إِلاَّ فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبْوَابُ الجَنَّةِ الثَّمَانِيَةُ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أَيِّهَا شَاءَ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ. زَادَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: «اللَّهُمَّ؛ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ التَّوَّابِينَ، واجْعَلْنِي مِنَ المُتَطَهِّرِينَ».

Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is none among you who performs ablution and does it thoroughly—or completely—then says: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, having no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger,' but that the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him, and he may enter through whichever of them he wishes." Reported by Muslim. Al-Tirmidhi added: "O Allah, make me among those who repent, and make me among those who purify themselves."
