عَنْ أَبي سَعِيدٍ الخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قالَ: «إِذا رَأَيْتُمُ الرَّجُلَ يَعْتَادُ المَسَاجِدَ فاشْهَدُوا لَهُ بِالإِيمَانِ، قالَ اللّهُ عزَّ وَجَلَّ: إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ» الآيَةَ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see a man frequenting the mosques, bear witness to his faith. Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) said: 'Only he shall tend the mosques of Allah who believes in Allah and the Last Day'"—to the end of the verse. Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith.

يعتاد المساجد: كثير التعلق بها وملازمة الجماعة بها. فاشهدوا: اقطعوا له بالإيمان.
"Frequenting the mosques": greatly attached to them and constant in attending the congregation in them. "Bear witness": affirm his faith with certainty.
