عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ كِبَارَ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَبْتَدِرُونَ السَّوَارِيَ عِنْدَ المَغْرِبِ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the senior Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) hastening to the pillars at Maghrib. Reported by al-Bukhari.
الشرح · explanation
يبتدرون: يتسابقون. السواري: جمع سارية وهي الأسطوانة [العمود]، وكانت أساطين المسجد النبوي الشريف من جذوع النخل على عهد رسول اللّهِ صلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم إلى عهد عثمان رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ.
"Hastening": racing one another. "The pillars": the plural of sariyah, which is a column [pillar]; the pillars of the noble Prophetic Mosque were made of palm trunks during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) up until the time of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).
