عَنْ زيْدِ بنِ ثابتٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قالَ: «صَلُّوا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ، فَإنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصَّلاةِ صَلاةُ المَرْءِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلّا الْمكْتُوبَةَ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray, O people, in your houses, for the best prayer is a person's prayer in his house, except for the obligatory prayer." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

صلوا أيها الناس: الأمر متوجه للرجال، أما النساء فإن الأصل في صلاتهن البيوت فلا يحتجن لهذا الخطاب. المكتوبة: صلاة الفرض، وفعلها في المساجد جماعة للرجال هو الأصل إلا لعذر.
"Pray, O people": the command is directed at men; as for women, the basic ruling is that their prayer is in their houses, so they do not need this address. "The obligatory prayer": the compulsory prayer, whose performance in the mosques in congregation is the norm for men, except for a valid excuse.
