عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ: «فِيهَا سَاعَةٌ لا يُوَافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي يَسْألُ اللّهَ شَيْئًا إِلّا أعْطَاهُ إيَّاهُ» وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ يُقَلِّلُهَا. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Friday and said: "In it there is an hour during which no Muslim servant stands praying and asks Allah for something but that He grants it to him." And he gestured with his hand to indicate how brief it is. Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
الشرح · explanation
ذكر يوم الجمعة: أي بالثناء عليه وبيان فضله. يوافقها: يصادفها. شيئًا: حلالًا وخيرًا. يقللها: يبين أنها فترة قليلة ولحظة خفيفة.
"Mentioned Friday": that is, praising it and stating its merit. "Coincides with it": happens upon it. "Something": something lawful and good. "Indicating how brief it is": showing that it is a short period and a fleeting moment.

Allah the Exalted has singled out Friday with an hour in which prayers are answered, out of His grace and generosity, and it is a brief, subtle period of time. Encouragement to increase in obedience and earnest supplication to Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) on this day, in the hope of coinciding with the hour of response.
