عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا قَامَ أحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَفْتَتِحِ الصَّلاَةَ برَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you rises at night [to pray], let him open the prayer with two light rak'ahs." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
فليفتتح الصّلاة: أي فليبدأ التهجّد.
"Let him open the prayer": that is, let him begin the tahajjud.
