عَنْ عائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهَا: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «السِّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ، مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ» رَوَاهُ النَّسَائِيُّ، وَابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ فِي «صَحِيحِهِ» بِأَسَانِيدَ صَحِيحَةٍ. وذكـر البخاريُّ رحمه اللّه في صحيحهِ هذا الحديث تعليقا (في كتاب الصوم، باب سواك الرطب واليابس للصائم) بصيغةِ الجزم فقال: وقالت عائشةُ رضي اللّهُ عنها… إلى آخر الحديث.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The siwak is a purification for the mouth and a means of pleasing the Lord." Reported by al-Nasa'i and Ibn Khuzaymah in his Sahih with sound chains of transmission. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned this hadith in his Sahih as a suspended report (muʿallaq) (in the Book of Fasting, the chapter on the siwak, whether fresh or dry, for the fasting person) with a definitive wording, saying: And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said... to the end of the hadith.

مطهرة: سبب الطهارة. مرضاة: سبب رضا اللّه تعالى.
"A purification": a means of cleanliness. "A means of pleasing": a cause of Allah the Exalted's pleasure.
