عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُمَا: أَنَّ رَسُول اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «بُنِيَ الْإِسْلاَمُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أنْ لَا إلـٰهَ إِلَّا اللّهُ وَأنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam is built upon five: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, establishing the prayer, giving the zakat, pilgrimage to the House, and fasting Ramadan." بني: أُسِّسَ. على خمس: أي دعائم أو قواعد أو أركان. إيتاء الزكاة: إعطاء ما فرض في مال الأغنياء لمُستحقيه من الفقراء.
"Built": founded. "Upon five": that is, five supports, foundations, or pillars. "Giving the zakat": giving what is obligated from the wealth of the rich to its rightful recipients among the poor.
