عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبيْدِ اللّهِ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَهْلِ نَجْدٍ ثَائِرُ الرَّأْسِ، نَسْمَعُ دَوِيَّ صَوْتِهِ وَلا نَفْقَهُ مَا يَقُولُ، حَتَّى دَنَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فإِذا هُوَ يَسْأَلُ عَنِ الْإِسْلامِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «خَمْسُ صَلَواتٍ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ» قَالَ: هَلْ عَلَيَّ غَيْرُهُنَّ؟ قَالَ: «لا، إِلّا أَنْ تَطَّوَّعَ» فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَصِيامُ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ» قَالَ: هَلْ عَلَيَّ غيْرُهُ؟ قَالَ: «لَا، إِلَّا أنْ تَطَّوَّعَ» قَالَ: وَذَكَرَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الزَّكَاةَ فَقَالَ: هَلْ عَلَيَّ غَيْرُهَا؟ قَالَ: «لَا، إِلَّا أَنْ تَطَّوَّعَ» فَأَدْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ وهُوَ يَقُولُ: وَاللّهِ لا أَزِيدُ عَلَى هَـٰذَا وَلا أَنْقُصُ مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أفْلَحَ إِنْ صَدَقَ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Talhah ibn Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man from the people of Najd came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with disheveled hair. We could hear the buzzing of his voice but could not understand what he was saying, until he drew near to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and behold, he was asking about Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Five prayers in the day and night." He asked: Is there anything else upon me? He said: "No, unless you do so voluntarily." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And fasting the month of Ramadan." He asked: Is there anything else upon me? He said: "No, unless you do so voluntarily." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned zakat to him, and he asked: Is there anything else upon me? He said: "No, unless you do so voluntarily." Then the man turned away, saying: By Allah, I will not add to this nor diminish from it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has succeeded if he is truthful." جاء رجل: هو ضمام بن ثعلبة. ثائر الرأس: منتشر شعر الرأس. نسمع دوي صوته: أي نسمع صوتًا شديدًا لا يفهم. دنا: اقترب. إلّا أن تطّوّع: المعنى إلّا أن تزيد نفلًا من تلقاء نفسك. أدبر: ابتعد عن المكان. أفلح إن صدق: أي فاز ونجا إن صدق.
"A man came": he was Dimam ibn Thaʿlabah. "Disheveled hair": with the hair of his head unkempt and standing out. "We could hear the buzzing of his voice": that is, we heard a loud sound that could not be understood. "Drew near": came close. "Unless you do so voluntarily": the meaning is unless you add supererogatory acts of your own accord. "Turned away": moved off from the place. "He has succeeded if he is truthful": that is, he has triumphed and been saved if he is truthful.

حكمة النّبيّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عليه وَسَلَّمَ في الدعوة إلى اللّهِ وتعليم الناس أركان الإسلام واضحة خالية من أي تعقيد، ولذلك كانت كفيلة بنقل الإنسان من الكفر إلى الإيمان في لحظات. أنّ هذه الأركان مؤثرة في نفس الإنسان وأنّ التهاون فيها يؤدي إلى الخروج عن الإسلام أو إضعاف الإيمان. الإسلام عقيدة وعمل فلا ينفع عمل من غير إيمان كما أنّه لا وجود للإيمان من غير عمل. أنّ أداء الزكاة من أسباب الفلاح في الدنيا والآخرة.
The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) wisdom in calling to Allah and teaching people the pillars of Islam clearly and without any complication, which is why it could move a person from disbelief to faith in moments. These pillars have a profound effect on the soul, and neglecting them leads either to leaving Islam or to weakening faith. Islam is creed and action: no action avails without faith, just as there is no faith without action. Paying zakat is among the causes of success in this world and the Hereafter.
