عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفْطِرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى رُطَبَاتٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رُطَبَاتٌ فَتُمَيْرَاتٌ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ تُمَيْرَاتٌ حَسَا حَسَوَاتٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ، وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to break his fast, before praying, with fresh dates; if there were no fresh dates, then with dried dates; and if there were no dried dates, he would take a few sips of water. Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith.

أن المستحب للصائم أن يفطر على رطبات وترًا فإذا لم يجد فعلى تمرات فإن لم يجد أفطر على الماء.
It is recommended for the fasting person to break his fast with an odd number of fresh dates; if he does not find any, then with dried dates; and if he does not find any, he breaks his fast with water.
